The sales at Art Miami seem to keep growing. In their new location for a second year, the fair may be best suited to anchor Miami Art Week with its accessible price points and popular material.

  • “We made a large number of sales in the sub-$100,000 bracket, particularly for the work of David Hockney with five rare prints selling, including his ‘Coloured Flowers made of Paper and Ink.’ Other artists selling in this range included Ed Ruscha, Lynn Chadwick, Bridget Riley, Yuko Nishimura, Jesús Rafael Soto, Jonas Wood and a sculpture by young Belgian artist Saskia De Tollenaere, whose sculptural homage to Frida Kahlo was bought by an important corporate collection.”

  • Douglas Dawson Gallery sold an “Anthropomorphic Urn” from Tamalameque, Columbia (800-1200 AD) for $13,000 as well as a set of “Deep Water Buoys” recovered from Lake Superior/Lake Michigan (20th century) made of wood and iron pigment for $11,500

  • Lisa Sette Gallery sold two acrylic and India ink on de-acidified 19th Century paper titled “Ghostly Meditations (the invisible essence of things)” (2011) and “Ghostly Meditations (distills into something dense and unknown)” totaling $8,400. The gallery also sold three oil on panel pieces titled “The Battle” (2009) for $2,800, “Traveling Grower” (2011) for $1,200 and “Flood” (2011) for $1,200
  • Pan American Art Projects sold a mixed media piece by Jose Manuel Fors titled “Fragmentos” for $7,000, two William Cannings works “Glow Tube” for $3,000 and “Rip and Sag” for $7,500 made from inflated steel and paint

  • Osborne Samuel sold LynnChadwick’s sculpture “Stairs” for more than $1.5 million
  • Galerie Terminus sold Keith Haring’s “T.c.” (Dog) for $1.2 million, Tony Cragg’s “Mental Landscape” for $500,000, and Guenther Uecker’s newly created nail on wood piece for $480,000
  • LewAllen Galleries sold Milton Avery’s “Leo Lerman in Mitzi Solomon’s Studio (1948)” for $325,000
  • Galerie von Braunbehrens sold several works from artists Daniel Cherbuin and Marck totaling $461,500
  • James Barron Art of Rome sold a series of three paintings from Julie Olitski’s Homage to Kermit Champa for more than $160,000
  • Waterhouse & Dodd sold two drawings, one by Jean Metzinger and the other by Francis Picabia for an estimated $150,000
  • C. Grimaldis Gallery reported six-figure total sales from a series of lighting installations from Chul Hyun Ayn.
  • Graham sold an untitled piece from abstract painter Nancy Lorenz for $50,000
  • McCormack Valerino sold an untitled work from Peter Saul for $65,000
  • Ferrin Gallery sold Sergei Isupov’s “Papa” for $45,000
