Art Los Angeles Cont Claims 10,000 Visitors, Museum Sales

February 1, 2011 by Marion Maneker

The organizers of Art Contemporary Los Angeles have released a sale report from the fair:

  • Palm Beach’s Gavlak Gallery, which sold Lisa Anne Auerbach’s Revolution Resolution to a major U.S. Museum.
  • Jerome Zodo Contemporary (Milan), who sold their entire booth, reported Andrew Schoultz’ Monument to a Whirlwind, 2009, the largest mixed media piece on paper shown at ALAC 2011, sold to a U.S. museum.
  • Francois Ghebaly Gallery sold Robert Fry’s Red #5 to collector Blake Byrne; Robert Russell’s MOCA Collection (John Baldessari) to Elizabeth and Arthur Forney of the FLAX Foundation.
  • Josée Bienvenu Gallery (New York).  “We met collectors- new and established- and saw many curators and institutions. The strongest, most amazing response was to artist Ken Solomon’s work, of which one went to collector Eugenio Lopez, founder of La Colección Jumex.”
  • “ALAC worked well for us.  We brought three artists and sold work from each artist that we brought to the fair.  The collection tours and auxiliary programming was one of the most relevant and exciting that I have experienced,” said Josée Bienvenu.
