Art Cologne had 55,000 visitors come to see 210 galleries from 33 countries. Here are the sales reported by galleries:

  • Sculpture “Marsupiale” from Urs Fischer (for a price in the high six figurest according to Artsy’s Nate Freeman.)

  • Alice Neel, “Grimaldi”, higher 6-figure amount

Vernissage TV: Art Cologne 2018

The folks at Vernissage TV dropped by Art Cologne this week to shoot one of their signature narrative-less videos:

This year’s Art Cologne features 200 galleries from 31 countries. In the “Galleries” sector, the fair presents modern, post-war and contemporary artists. In the “Collaborations” section, 36 galleries present curated projects, and cutting edge art of young galleries is presented in the “Neumarkt” section. The 2018 edition of Art Cologne also features special exhibitions such as “The Köln Show”, an exhibition focusing on the Cologne art scene in the 1990s, and a talks programme. The 52nd edition of the art fair runs from 19th to 22nd April.

Sarah Douglas ferrets out some sale information for Zwirner Gallery’s trip to Art Cologne from the usually unabashed firm:

The fair, incidentally, was a rousing success for Zwirner, who parted with a Georg Baselitz painting for $3 million and an Isa Genzken sculpture for €250,000 [about $329,000], among other artworks, selling mostly to German clients.
