Matt Carey-Williams posted on Instagram this Josef Albers Homage to the Square that will appear in Phillips’s March sale. The work presents another reference point in the arc of increasing value for works in this series, including a show at Zwirner in London emphasizing the more colorful works. This Homage carries a £150-250k :

Josef Albers’ ‘Study for Homage to the Square: Wet and Dry’ from 1969 will be offered in the @phillipsauction Evening Sale of 20th Century & Contemporary Art in London this coming March 8th at 5pm. This red hot Albers is not just about colour, optics, geometry or form: it’s about the act of looking; of deconstructing and then entering that emotional and intellectual space where the objective becomes the subjective. Like all great art, it makes the heart beat faster and the brain throb harder. It can turn a handful of squares in to the coolest kids on the block and displays one Red State that everyone can love. Come pay homage at the pre-sale exhibition, opening in Berkeley Square, London, on February 27th.
