Thaddaeus Ropac is bringing some of his Rauschenberg Borealis works that are currently on view at his Salzburg gallery to Frieze New York along with other works from his stable of artists:

Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac’s booth at Frieze New York will include new works by Robert Longo, Alex Katz, Sylvie Fleury and Oliver Beer, alongside historic works by Robert Rauschenberg and Rosemarie Castoro. The gallery will also be offering significant works by Georg Baselitz, Tony Cragg, Daniel Richter and Robert Mapplethorpe.

Robert Rauschenberg’s Borealis are considered to be one of the artist’s most experimental and innovative series. In Bowery Parade (Borealis)(1989), the artist created what he called ‘corrosions’ by applying tarnishing agents with gestural strokes over images silkscreened onto a sheet of brass. With its subtly reflective surface, the work changes according to each viewpoint, alluding to the ever-changing landscape of modernity. An exhibition of Rauschenberg’s Borealis is on view in our Salzburg gallery through 31 May 2019.
