One of Canova’s Last Busts to Sell in Monaco

The Hotels de Ventes de Monte Carlo will sell on April 27th the last bust made by the sculptor Antonio Canova. This work is a bust of Lucretia d’Este and it was once owned by Alexander Baring of the British banking family. The work is estimated at between €2 and 2.5m. The last work by Canova to be sold was the Bust of Peace which Sotheby’s was able to get £5.3m for last Summer. That’s about €6m.
