  • Arshile Gorky Untitled, Head (1936–1942) Oil on canvas USD 1,600,000  to a U.S. Collection
  • Lucian Freud, The Painter’s Mother (1940) Ink on paper USD 155,000
  • Henry Moore, Portrait of Stephen Spender (1934) Pen and ink, chalk, brush and ink, wash GBP 50,000

Frieze London

  • Keith Tyson, Entangled Still Life (2018) Oil on Aluminium USD 100,000
  • Rashid Johnson, Untitled Escape Collage 2018  USD 215,000
  • Lorna Simpson, Blue Earth/Sky 2018 Ink and screenprint on gessoed wood panel USD 375,000 to a British collection
  • Matthew Day Jackson, Flowers in a Vase (2018) Textile, silkscreen, watercolor, woodblock print, pigment print on paper European collection.

  • Robert Longo Untitled (Forever; Hydrangea, Beethoven’s Love Letter #9), 2018 sold for $800,000
  • Tom Sachs  Luggage (Rimowa), 2016  sold for $160,000

  • a work by Franz Kline, which was listed at $8 million and sold

Alison Jacques Gallery

  • four drawings by Lenore Tawney on graph paper for $65,000–85,000 and one so-called “drawing in air,” a 3D composition made with string priced between $65,000 and $120,000

Night Gallery

  • Mira Dancy’s triangle-shaped and large-scale painting Toxic(2018) sold for $36,000
  • a painting by the French artist Claire Tabouret, Duel in Sun (Bronze), also 2018, of two figures seemingly wrestling, sold to an Italian collector for $33,000
  • Tandem Green, by the New York–based artist Derek Fordjour sold for $18,000

Kavi Gupta

  •  rare works by AfriCOBRA artists sold in the opening minutes for prices ranging between $50,000 and $250,000
  • Family (1971), by one of the movement’s founders, Gerald Williams, which was priced at the higher end of that range
  • Devan Shimoyama, Weed Picker (2018) sold to a collector with homes in both the United States and United Kingdom for a price between $40,000 and $60,000
  • untitled portrait of a black woman by Firelei Báez for between $65,000 and $85,000

Lehmann Maupin

  • at least four works by OSGEMEOS sold, including Someone to Share the Dreams at between $130,000 and $180,000, It Is Never Enough in the same price range, and the largest, The Lyrical, at $150,000–$200,000

Jack Shainman Gallery

  • sold all three Nick Cave “Soundsuits” on view—standing, couture-inspired, wickedly crafted costumes priced at $150,000 each
  • Hayv Kahraman, Pussy Donation Box (2018), measuring 14 by 18 by 5 inches, sold for $9,500, and a related work, Donation Box, for the same price

Zwirner

  • two sculptures by Carol Bove went for $750,000 and $350,000
  • a Minimalist-styled Susan Frecon painting for $180,000
  • a Bridget Riley shaped canvas for £600,000 ($777,000)
  • a Lisa Yuskavage (Couple in Bed, 2017) for $900,000
  • a mixed-media work by Toba Khedoori for $600,000

Robilant + Voena

  • sold a stately yet ravishing, 18-inch-high plaster by Canova, Bust of Caroline Murat, nee Bonaparte (circa 1810–12) for around $1 million dollars to a Korean art collector
  • a beautiful, 18th-century Tiepolo painting, Portrait of a Young Page, bust length for less than a $1 million to a European collector
  • sold a page-sized, single-slash, and deeply blue Fontana Concetto Spaziale Attese (1964) for $500,000.

Frieze Masters

Van de Weghe

  • a work by Franz Kline for $8,000,000 USD

David Zwirner

  • sales of works by Anni Albers, Ruth Asawa, On Kawara, Dieter Roth, Bruce Nauman, and Franz West. Prices range between $175,000 to $1.4 million. Works were placed in prominent collections in China, Japan, Mexico, the US, and the UK.

Dickinson

  • sold Barbara Hepworth‘s bronze sculpture River Form (BH 568), conceived in 1965 and cast in 1973 in an edition of 3 + Artist’s proof (this cast 3/3)

Galeria Continua 

  • sold several works by Ilya and Amelia Kabakov, including one for $850,000 USD.

Pace

  • sold the 1993 Lee Ufan painting, Correspondance, for $155,000
  • sold two porcelain wall sculptures by Chinese artist Yin Xiuzhen which sold for $86,000USD and $68,000USD
  • a new installation work by Song Don sold for $65,000USD
  • a 2018 painting by Adrian Ghenie for €200,000
  • a 2018 sculpture by Kevin Francis Gray for 40,000 GBP
  • two works on paper by Loie Hollowell for $10,000 each
  • Oscar Humphries sold seven Japanese vases with prices ranging between £2,500-£8,000

  • two Jenny Holzer’s sold in the range of USD 200,000 – 225,000
  • sold out all of their Marcel van Eeden works
  • George Condo was sold for USD 80,000
  • two Kaari Upson works selling in the range of USD 60,000 – 80,000

  • a Toba Khedoori for USD 600,000
  • Carol Bove two works, one for USD 750,000 and one for USD 350,000
  • Suzan Frecon USD 180,000

  • sold out of the new paintings and sculptures by Los Angeles-based artist Calvin Marcus selling in the range of USD 18,000 to 38,000

  • reported the sale of an edition of Walter Pfeiffer for EUR 9,000.

  • a solo booth featuring Helen Chadwick almost sold out of the edition of In the Kitchen (1977)

Weiss Berlin 

  • sold one Faith Rinngold to a museum in the range of USD 160,000-500,000.
