Now I found a way of banking the cash [he made from records] back into art. If you were really smart, antiques even offered the best interest rates, plus, of course, waking up to all these exquisite objects.” …

Albright-Knox Unveils Expansion: The Buffalo News covers the expansion of the Albright-Knox Gallery’s expansion which will greatly expand the museum’s event and exhibition space:

  • “the amount of total exhibition space the gallery will boast when the project is complete: 50,000 square feet, which Albright-Knox Director Janne Sirén said will “triple or quadruple” the number of artworks the gallery can display.” …

Portugal’s Artist Who Is a Patron Saint of Portugal’s Artists: The New York Times profiles Pedro Cabrita Reis, Portugal’s leading sculptor, who has a new show opening in Lisbon at the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology drawn from his collection of younger Portuguese artists:

  • “Over 11 years, Mr. Cabrita Reis acquired nearly 400 pieces that ran the gamut in styles and mediums and included very early work by artists such as Joana Vasconcelos, Carlos Bunga and Rui Toscano, who would go on to become among the most prominent names of their generation in Portugal.”
