Solow Foundation Questioned: Crain’s New York Business takes a look at Sheldon Solow’s art collection and its shelter as a foundation located in his flagship building at 9 W57th. Complaints about the foundation’s inaccessibility have spawned a parody website. • “Gallery Weekend is very useful,” said Johann König, founder and owner of the König Gallery in Berlin, one of the city’s biggest. “We have all our clients coming, and we showcase the best possible art: We bring out the family jewels.” Mr. König said he put the same effort into the Art Basel fair in Switzerland in June, and “the turnover numbers are similar,” although in Basel, the gallery could show only individual pieces by each artist, versus the large exhibitions planned for Gallery Weekend. …

The New York Times Gets In On Berlin Gallery Weekend’s Mojo: Amy Cappellazzo opened the Art Leaders Network conference this morning with some bold statements likely to reverberate through the art market media. There were panels with Marc Glimcher, Thaddaeus Ropac, Sotheby’s Lisa Dennison, David Zwirner, Christie’s Marc Porter, Phillips’s Ed Dolman, Glenn Lowry from MoMA, Michael Govan from LACMA, and Dominique Lévy. The event was hosted by the Times’s Robin Pogrebin.  …

Warhol Sunset Prints Rise Online: Christie’s offered 10 Warhol prints of sunsets online last week. All of the works sold and sold well with prices ranging from $75k to $175k.
