Why Did the Mass AG Cave on Berkshire Sale? The Berkshire Eagle has been a central voice in opposing the Berkshire Museum boards decision to sell art to re-capitalize the museum, invest in the physical plant and shift its focus from art toward science and technology. Why?

  • “The state’s top prosecutor, which in November lost the only court ruling to date on the issue, faced the likelihood of coming up short again, due to a state law that gives the office oversight of public charities, but limited say over how they are run.” …

Robert Irwin: “Am I having a moment? No. I’ve been here all my life.”: Robert Irwin gets a profile in the Los Angeles Times keyed to a number of SoCal projects, including an untitled show at Spruth Magers in LA:

  • “Beauty is all around you,” he says. “You open your eyes in the morning, the world is totally formed. You haven’t done anything other than be. It’s all around you. The whole idea is being able to recognize it, and pay attention to it, articulate it.” …

Online Art Sales May Be a Lifeline for Older Artists: The New York Times looks at Suzanne Massion and her path to selling her work online:

  • “Ms. Massion is following a path taken by other older artists who, eager to continue creating and attempting to earn a living from art in their retirement, are turning to online sales to supplement or replace their gallery ties. With the change, older artists are having to learn to engage with an ever-widening pool of buyers on the internet.” …
