Peter Marino Chooses Betty Parsons Work for Louis Vuitton Store: Decorating the 57th St Louis Vuitton store in Manhattan, architect/designer Peter Marino already had work by Yayoi Kusama and Jeff Koons but he wanted to bring the work of a painter better known as a gallerist back to 57th St. That’s when he went to Alexander Gray’s gallery. Gray handles the Betty Parsons estate:

  • “You always look what the gallerist hangs alone on the entrance wall — duh — that’s usually the best painting. He hung it in the middle of the wall when you came in…I didn’t need a high IQ to go, ‘I guess he thinks that one’s really good.’ I totally went, ‘That’s the one.’” …

What Else Could You Buy with Art Money?: Bloomberg’s James Tarmy does a ‘what if’ comparison of some of the big price tags for their equivalent luxury asset purchases like that van Gogh is the same cost as a Gulfstream G500 jet. But doesn’t look at the carrying costs. Is art more expensive to maintain than a jet? And what about the leasing opportunities? …

Busy Weekend in Shanghai: Artsy’s Alexander Forbes went to Shanghai for the two fairs that took place recently. His sales report includes the big global galleries Hauser + Wirth and David Zwirner as well as European and Asian dealers on site.
