When Instagram Tells You Someone Has Copied Your Work: The Dallas Observer tells the story of a Texas artist who saw copies of his own work promoted on Instagram by a Miami gallery. Now the Miami gallery is showing his work instead:
- “We never thought that somebody would have … like the big balls to try and showcase … someone else’s work,” says Anais Camacho, a curator for F.A.M.E. “We’re happy it happened the way it happened. It really would have pained us if those pieces would have ended up in our gallery.” …
Michelangelo Pistoletto at the National Gallery in Washington, DC: The artist is being interviewed today by the NGA’s James Meyer who is also the author of the monograph Michelangelo Pistoletto: The Minus Objects 1965-1966, “which explores the origins and impact of this seminal body of work as a radical turning point in postwar sculpture and conceptual art.” …
The ADAA Gets a New Executive Director: “The Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) today announced the appointment of Maureen Bray as Executive Director. Bray will oversee the nation’s leading nonprofit organization of art dealers. Founded in 1962, the ADAA encompasses 180 members from 25 cities across the U.S., and is a leader in establishing best practices for the field and advancing scholarship and connoisseurship. Bray will assume her new role on January 2, 2018, succeeding Linda Blumberg, who served as the Executive Director for over 11 years.”
