- Chiharu Shiota’s State of Being (Children’s Dress) (2017) sold for €35,000
- pieces from her 2016 “Skin” series of white canvases laced with red thread sold for between €10,000 and €70,000, depending on size
- Works by Indian artist Jitish Kallat, such as Wind Study (the hour of the day of the month of the season) 23, (2015), made with burnt adhesive and graphite on Arches paper, sold for between $40,000 and $80,000, while his Instagram-friendly sculpture Syzygy (2017) sold for $75,000
Liang Gallery
- sold two works at around $32,000 and $48,000 by Chao Chung-hsiang, a Chinese artist who combined traditional ink painting with gestures inspired by Abstract Expressionism
Goodman Gallery
- sold two editions of Sue Williamson’s montage made from inks on fiber-based paper No Time to Stroll, Hong Kong (2013) for $4,000 each, as well as a large ink painting
- a new video work by South African artist William Kentridge
Esther Schipper gallery
- placed Philippe Parreno’s 56 Flickering Lights (2013)
- all three of Tomás Saraceno’s “Cloud” sculptures they brought to the fair
- one work by Pierre Huyghe, Timekeeper (Drill Core), Palais de Tokyo (2016), a chunk of the wall of the Palais de Tokyo sanded down by the artist to reveal the layers of paint that have backgrounded the institution’s shows
Galeria Nara Roesler
- sold four works by Vik Muniz, ranging from $17,000 to $18,000
- two by Xavier Veilhan, including a wood and plywood sculpture Tony (2015) for €35,000.00.
Mendes Wood
- Solange Pessoa 10 editions of her untitled bronze work from 2000 sold for $10,000 each, as well as three oil on canvas paintings sold for $20,000 each. An Asian institution also snapped up a series of six soapstone sculptures by the artist.

Amna Naqvi
- sold the first works by Pakistani artists, Imran Qureshi and Aisha Khalid, to M +
- Naqvi is also guarding one of the fair’s most tempting acquisitions: a suite of ethereal poems and beguiling ink drawings by Fazal Rivi priced at just US$1,100 each. Two have already sold.

Various Small Fires (Los Angeles)
- The gallery’s solo-booth of works by Joshua Nathanson sold out on the opening day Five paintings sold to individual Asian collectors The artist’s very first large-scale sculpture was acquired by an institution in Shanghai

- Half of the Kabinett works have sold, including Meu Pé de Laranja Lima in the range of $100,000-$150,000 USD and O Canto de Sereia in the range of $150,000-$200,000 USD to collectors from Korea and the United States, with the other half on reserve
- The gallery also has also sold a work on paper by Korean artist Lee Bul,
- several pieces from Do Ho Suh’s Exit Series (both to Korean collectors)
- and has strong reserves on works by artists Teresita Fernández, Liu Wei, Liza Lou, Angel Otero, Do Ho Suh, and Mickalene Thomas

Hauser & Wirth (Zurich, London, Somerset, New York, Los Angeles)
Hauser & Wirth reports incredibly strong first day sales, including multi-million dollar works, with almost all pieces placed in China or Asia.
Seven figure sales include:
- a Philip Guston 1964 painting
- a large-scale painting by Mark Bradford (sold within hours of the fair)
- a Frank Auerbach 1982 painting, ‘Head of J.Y.M.’, which was placed in a Chinese private collection
- Two Fausto Melotti sculptures also sold; one into a public collection and one for EUR 220,000 to a collector in Hong Kong
- A new sculpture by Phyllida Barlow was sold for GBP 60,000 to an Asian private collection and a Barlow wall-based sculptural work was placed with a Chinese museum for GBP 150,000. A large-scale acrylic on paper by the artist was sold to an Asian private collection for GBP 120,000
- A Rashid Johnson Escape Collage sold for USD 175,000 to a Chinese collector.
- A painting by Jack Whitten, not on the booth, was placed in a public collection in Korea for USD 150,000.
