Sotheby’s Has a $45m Klimt for Those Who Couldn’t Afford One Privately

February 10, 2017 by Marion Maneker

Klimt, Bauerngarten

Sotheby’s has announced a $45m Klimt for their London sales later this month. The offering comes on the heels of news that two works sold in the last year privately for $150m and $170m.

Kelly Crow has the details:

“Cottage Garden,” Klimt’s 1907 view of a farmer’s garden blooming with poppies, roses and daisies, last sold for $5.8 million at Christie’s in 1994. Now its anonymous seller thinks it’s worth considerably more.

Sotheby’s Offers a Klimt for $45 Million  (WSJ)
