
The FT’s Melanie Gerlis has an early look at Christie’s London line up of Impressionist and Modern works that will go on sale Feb 28th. With a total estimate of £10-15m for works to be sold throughout the week with the proceeds earmarked for charity, sale is:
led by 14 works from the personal collection of Barbara Lambrecht-Schadeberg, a philanthropist and the co-owner of Krombacher, one of Germany’s largest independent breweries. Works in the collection include Berthe Morisot’s “Femme en noir” (1875, est £600,000-£800,000), Claude Monet’s “Les Bords de la Seine au Petit-Gennevilliers (1874, est £2m-£3m) and Kees van Dongen’s erotic “Les deux Anges” (1907-09, est £400,000-£600,000).
