The art market may have slowed at the top end but the gem and jewelry market continues to rage on. Following Sotheby’s record sale, Christie’s made a record for a single stone. (There was a larger sale a few years ago but the buyer backed out leaving Sotheby’s in possession of the diamond.) The Oppenheimer Blue is now the world’s most expensive jewel at $57m.
