Bloomberg Wonders Why More Chinese Don’t Buy Chinese Contemporary Art

Bloomberg on Chinese Contemporary Art

Bloomberg says that Contemporary Chinese Art is losing traction in China but that its got interest from foreign buyers. It doesn’t appear that the reporters on this piece did their research on how the market for Contemporary Chinese are developed (with foreign buyers) or that the appetite for these artists within China has been a relatively recent phenomenon. Their closing note was to present an stat from Artnet claiming Chinese Contemporary Art has the highest average price of any category outside of China.
