That New Year’s Eve Fire in Dubai Destroyed Some Contemporary Art

February 1, 2016 by Marion Maneker

Ramin SalsaliThe National has an interesting wrinkle on Dubai’s New Year’s Eve fire in a high-rise building. Ramin Salsali owned four apartments in the fire-damaged building. The one he lived in and another were destroyed by the fire which also engulfed part of Salsali’s art collection which comprised works by Amir Hossein Zanjani and George Condo.

“They already announced that they are going to repair the building, if it is repairable,” Mr Salsali said. “They are assessing right now with an engineering company whether the structure has been damaged. Now, everything will narrowed down to one point – how Emaar will compensate the owners or the tenants of the building.”
