Qing Silk Embroidery

Sotheby’s Asia Week in New York saw another runaway lot. In the past the works have been porcelains. But last November, Liu Yiquan spent $45m on a15th Century Tibetan Thangka at Christie’s in Hong Kong. Yesterday, bidders at Sotheby’s drove a Qing dynasty silk from its low estimate of $80k to a final premium price of $1.5m.
