Jeffrey Smart, the Australian expatriate painter, has been the focus of a great deal of buying in Australia over the last few years. A record of A$1.2m was set late last year. Although Sotheby’s has brought a large group of Smarts to market before without spectacular success, they’re doing it again at the end of April with seven works, including another version of the artist’s Richmond Park which made $325k in September at Menzies.
