Monet’s Moment?

February 2, 2015 by Marion Maneker

AMR Artists over 20 years

It’s not like Claude Monet is an overlooked artist. But this chart from AMR serves as a reminder that his prices haven’t fully kept up with the benchmark Picasso market. That’s likely to change this week as six Monets appear in the London Evening sales. The majority of works and the overwhelming potential value is all at Sotheby’s. Taken together, the low estimates on these Monets is $65m. But the upside could be much, much higher as Monet seems to be reaching levels not seen since the turn of the century.
