Christie’s 2014 Total Sales = $8.4bn

Christie’s today announces record results with art sales of £5.1 billion, up 12% ($8.4 billion, up 17%).

  • Auction sales up 10% to £4.2 billion ($6.8 billion, up 15%)
  • Private Sales totaling £916.1 million up 20% ($1.5 billion, up 26%)
  • eCommerce sales were £21.4 million, up 54% ($35.1 million, up 60%)

Post-War and Contemporary Art: total sales of £1.7 billion ($2.8 billion) up 33% on 2013 (39% in $)

Impressionist and Modern Art: total sales £732.5 million (14% increase ) $1.2 billion up 19%

30% of all buyers were new to Christie’s in 2014
