The FT has Patricia Barbizet’s first moves at Christie’s:
Christie’s president of the Americas, Doug Woodham, is to leave the auction house just days after the departure of chief executive Steven Murphy, as incoming CEO Patricia Barbizet launches a leadership shake-up. […]
Ms Barbizet — who is also chief executive of Artemis, the Pinault family holding group and will retain her previous role as Christie’s chairman — has created two senior global roles as part of her overhaul, the auction house confirmed.
Jussi Pylkkänen, the company’s star auctioneer and Europe division president, becomes global president and will oversee the management of art specialists and client relationships.
Stephen Brooks, currently chief operating officer, assumes the enhanced role of global COO with increased responsibility for day-to-day corporate activities
“Christie’s has an exceptionally strong team comprising leading art professionals and executives who have overseen and managed the developments and financial success of Christies in recent years,” Ms Barbizet said. “Together, we look forward to leading the global team into a new chapter of innovation and excellence.”
The auction house had the “total support” of its owner, she added.
Mr Woodham, who has held his post for two years, will leave at the end of this month. His departure had been expected internally for some time, people familiar with the matter said.
