Auctionata Debuts in New York with a Print Sale

November 4, 2014 by Marion Maneker

Roy Lichtenstein, Sweet Dreams, Baby

Auctionata debuts in New York next Sunday with a print sale two weeks after the cycle of print and multiple sales at Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Phillips—and a week after the IFPDA fair. But fear not, the sale has been curated by Deborah Ripley who has worked for 28 years for print dealers, print makers and Artnet auctions (curiously, Ripley is still listed as a specialist on Artnet’s site.)

The sale has an estimate of $1.3m and features these works:

Andy Warhol’s John Wayne, 1986, color screenprint unique trial proof.  Starting bid: $50,000

Mel Bochner’s Blah Blah Blah, 2009, oil on black velvet. Starting bid: $11,000

Roy Lichtenstein’s Sweet Dreams, Baby!, 1965, screenprint. Starting bid: $50,000

Pablo Picasso’s Séries 347: 153, 1969, etching. Starting bid: $5,000

Marc Chagall’s Coq Violiniste, 1974, monotype. Starting bid: $17,000

Auctionata Modern & Contemporary, New York
