The Financial Times has a long-ish video about art fairs featuring a range of dealers, collectors and artists. Of course, the journalist is the one expressing the most anguish and the artist seems quite sanguine, even gleeful about the effect of art fairs.
Most significant is the simple fact that all of forelock tugging only confirms that worrying about art fairs is long past relevant. Rather than “problematizing” the art fair, this video simply acknowledges what everyone knows to be the case. Art fairs are one of the pillars of the art world and a gravitational center of the art market.
