Carlos Cruz Diez isn’t happy with the Vendée region school that let his sculpture “Colonne Chromointerférente”  fall into disrepair which requited the work to be sold for scrap metal. Cruz Diez’s market has been on a steady rise over the past decade:

valued at USD 270,000 had been at the school’s facilities since 1972. The sculpture was destroyed after the department’s general council decided in April to remove it for safety measures and tear it down.

“Yet it is obvious it should had been stored so it could be repaired eventually,” the council admitted in a statement.

It added that the masterpiece was not in good conditions and was likely to collapse.
