Sotheby’s is going to sell another Bacon triptych in London at the end of this month during its June 30th Evening sale of Contemporary art:

Three Studies for Portrait of George Dyer (on light ground) by Francis Bacon. Having remained in the same collection since 1970, it now comes to auction for the first time ever with an estimate of £15-20 million.

The current record for a small-scale triptych by Bacon is £23m, for a 1964 portrait of Lucien Freud, sold at Sotheby’s London in 2011.

Of the four other small-scale lifetime triptychs of Dyer, two are in museum collections.
