Private Museum Summit Outshines Art14

February 26, 2014 by Marion Maneker

OHD Museum, Java

Colin Gleadell is hopeful about the growth and evolution of Art14 but he’s got unqualified praise for the Private Museum Summit which Citi Private Bank has sponsored this year:

Coming back are Wang Wei, founder of the Long Museum in Shanghai; Ramin Salsali, owner of the Salsali private museum in Dubai; and the Rubells from Miami, where they recently held an exhibition of contemporary Chinese art that included a painting by Zhu Jinshi that they bought from dealer Pearl Lam at the fair last year.

Joining the discussions for the first time will be Kate Rothko, daughter of Mark Rothko, who represents the Rothko Art Centre in his birthplace in Latvia; Dr Oei Hong Djien, owner of the OHD Museum in Java, which collects contemporary Indonesian art; Indonesian collector, Budi Tek, who has just opened the Yuz Museum in Shanghai for international contemporary art; and Sunhee Kim, director of the Daegu Art Museum in Korea.

There’s also talk of the summit spawning a private museum association, presumably with these folks as founding members:
