Fake Jasper Johns Flag Sculpture Brings the Artist to Court

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zachary Feingold announced in court today that Jasper Johns would testify about the bronze cast of his painting “Flag” that foundry owner Brian Ramnarine tried to sell for $11m when he was in need of cash:

And he said Johns will testify he never knew the fake existed.

Feingold said the artist hired Ramnarine to make a wax impression of his famous painting in 1990, but the mould [sic] was never returned. Feingold says Ramnarine tried to sell the knockoff in 2010 as he struggled financially.
