Maya Lin to Renovate City Jail

November 22, 2013 by Marion Maneker

Yonkers City JailThe Mayor of Yonkers. Michael Spano, a close suburb of New York City, announced that Daniel Wolf and his wife, Maya Lin, have bought the city jail with plans to renovate it and turn it into a space for his art collection:

Spano’s office said Wolf is paying $1 million for the vacant building. It was originally listed for $2.5 million. The City Council has to approve the deal.

Spano said the couple’s renovation of the two-story jail could eventually mean adding two floors.

Wolf and Lin called the brick building beautiful and raved about its proximity to Manhattan and its waterfront location.
