Phillips NY Contemporary Sale Moves Up

October 28, 2013 by Marion Maneker

Lichtenstein, Girl with Peanuts

Catalogues for Phillips’s New York Contemporary sales are available online for the Evening and the Day sales with a Murillos and Kassay’s in both (which is to be expected) and this Lichtenstein, a big, dark Rothko, a pricey Currin and David Hammons basketball hoop, and a Warhol the house sold two years ago for $7.9m and now has estimated at $8m and up.

Then there’s this early Lichtenstein estimated at $10-15m  that suggests Phillips is aggressively to acquire more work in what is now the middle range of the very top end of the market.
