Mark Bradford’s not inconsiderable work on offer at Sotheby’s mid-season sale today made an astonishing $2.28m. That is more than three times the work’s high estimate. The $2.28m price doubles Bradford’s record set last May. During that same season three of the top four prices were set for Bradford’s work. After this dramatic sale, it’s now three of the top five prices.
