Auctionata had a big sale late last week:

Egon Schiele’s 1916 watercolourReclining Woman, which sold for €1.5 million (€1.827 million including buyer’s premium) [~$2.3m] at precisely 8:35 pm CET. Never has a piece of fine art sold for more at an online auction.

Carl Moll’s Villa in Vienna and Untitled (Blue Madonna) by Gottfried Helnwein marked further highlights. The painting by Karl Moll, a member of the Vienna Secession, started at €34.000 and sold for €240.000 (€297.120 including buyer’s premium) after a long and nerve-racking bidding war. Gottfried Helnwein’s work Untitled (Blue Madonna) started at €24.000 and went for €55.000 (€68.090 including buyer’s premium).

792 participants from 46 countries saw the auction live online; 68 of 100 lots were sold under commentary of Victor Wiener, renowned appraiser and art expert.
