Artprice released its report on the art market in 2012. This year they’ve teamed up with Chinese market tracker, Artron to give a “bi-polar” picture of the market. There are many great charts and lots of good data in the report (which can be downloaded here) which should make for goos posts in the days to come. In the meantime, east and west seemed to have come into equilibrium in 2012. The list of the top 25 artist’s markets is fairly evenly distributed between Chinese and Western painters (10/15) and the names appearing are mostly those that would have been at the top of list last year.
