A Rothko for Little Rock

September 24, 2012 by Marion Maneker

Judith Dobrzynski has the news that the Crystal Bridges Museum has purchased a Rothko for what Marc Glimcher says should be about $25m from a Swiss collector. The work has only been displayed in public twice:

When the opportunity to buy “No. 210/No. 211” came along, in a private deal brokered by Christie’s, the museum jumped. (The unusual numbering is Rothko’s own.)
