Castelli’s Colombian Lichtenstein Comes Home

August 1, 2012 by Marion Maneker

The Telegraph is reporting on an interesting case. A Roy Lichtenstein painting thought to be in a Colombian museum has resurfaced  in a New York warehouse after it was shipped by a Colombian gallery to New York and another was called to authenticate it.

What makes the story so odd is the painting was reported stolen from Leo Castelli in 1970 when it was sent to be cleaned. Castelli’s estate has been trying to get the work back when the work appeared last week, according to the Telegraph.
