A Prodigy Leaves Christie’s

June 29, 2012 by Marion Maneker

Alexandre Carel, who was featured in the Wall Street Journal as an auction house prodigy, has announced that he is leaving Christie’s to go to Stanford business school to get an MBA.

Groomed by Amy Cappellazzo, the 28-year-old is widely recognized as extremely bright and ambitious. He came to the auction house while doing a finance degree that required an internship.

How a business degree will further his career in the art market (or whether he hopes to continue to work in the global art market) is the open question raised by the move.
