Bernard Prazan Dies

January 6, 2012 by Marion Maneker

Our best tipster on the Continent points out that gallerist Bernard Prazan has died:

The gallery owner Bernard Prazan died December 29, 2011 following a stroke. His burial took place January 2, 2012. For over 20 years, he sold only the works of major artists of the School of Paris, around 50 years: Jean Bazaine,  Gérard Schneider, Maurice Estève or Zao Wou-Ki. A bold choice at a time when their score was relatively low compared to that of American abstract expressionists. Prazan Bernard founded the gallery Applicat-Prazan in 1989. In 1993, he settled in the district of Saint Germain des Pres, rue de Seine. Since 2004, his son Franck Prazan, former CEO of Christie’s France, took over the reins of the company. He opened a new space in 2010, avenue Matignon
