The firm that runs the Armory Show in New York has just completed their first Los Angeles fair called Art Platform. Here are some of the sales they want you to know about:
- Javier Peres reported selling numerous works by the Belgian collective,
- LEO GABIN Pan American Art Projects sold an $85,000 sculptural installation piece by artists Los Carpinteros
- Greg Kucera Gallery reported placing both a Deborah Butterfield work and a Joseph Goldberg painting with a prominent collector
- New York dealer Michael Rosenfeld reported selling a wall relief by Betye Saar for $35,000
- Weinstein Gallery, who mounted a solo exhibition of Alec Soth, sold multiple works in the $20,000 range
- Galerie Christian Lethert, and Bryce Wolkowitz sold a Paula Scher work for $70,000 titled Greater Los Angeles. Additionally, Wolkowitz sold more than 20 LED Books by artist Airin Kang, averaging $4,500 each.
- Marine Contemporary reported a sold-out booth – highlights included a $12,000 Littlwhitehead sculpture, a Robert Minervini’s painting for $7,500 and pieces by artist Stephanie Pryor.
- Lower East Side gallery INVISIBLE-EXPORTS reported one of the surprise hits of the fair, works by Vaginal Davis, selling nearly all of her make-up paintings.
- The Waldman Collection acquired a large 1969 photo work by Katharina Sieverding
- Cheryl Haines, from San Francisco’s Haines Gallery noted that the majority of their sales were in the six-figure range
