Masterpiece Sales

July 5, 2011 by Marion Maneker

Bloomberg reports some of the few confirmed sales at Masterpiece, the art fair being held in London this week as the Old Master sales begin. Bloomberg reports that dealers are up by 50 participants in the fair’s second year but there’s already been grumbling about slow foot traffic:

Hazlitt Holland-Hibbert: A Freud portrait drawing priced at 850,000 pounds and a 1960s Anthony Caro metal floor sculpture at more than 200,000.

Vanderven & Vanderven: a pair of Kangxi-dynasty vases to a Chinese collector for 500,000 pounds ($804,000).
