Sotheby's Latin American Evening Sale = $21.6m

Botero is shaping up to be the Latin American Warhol with the top two prices at Sotheby’s last night and whole collection among the three auctioned:

three sales of Latin American art at Sotheby’s New York brought a combined total of $21,672,625 (est. $19/26.2 million). The evening began with the single owner sale of A Discerning Eye: Latin American Masterpieces from a Private Collection, which totaled $5,423,750. This was followed by the single-artist sale of Fernando Botero: A Celebration that brought a total of $7,456,125 (est. $6.7/9.3 million). The first session of the various-owner Latin American Art auction next brought $8,521,500 and was 88% sold-by-lot (est. $6.7/9.1 million).
