Wang Strongly Denies Unpaid £53m Vase Reports

April 27, 2011 by Marion Maneker

The mystery of the unpaid Qianlong vase continues with the Telegraph reporting that the rumored balking buyer is not pleased to have his name associated with the fiasco. Wang Jianlin of the Wanda Group, China’s biggest property developer, whose company has been acquiring artworks for 15 years, denies any connection to the ill-fated vase:

“I want to clarify two things: first the buyer [of the vase] is definitely is not Wanda Group or Mr Wang Jianlin,” said Guo Qingxiang, the president of the Wanda Yuebao Art Studio in Beijing, “Second I want to say these media reports are totally irresponsible. It is pure nonsense. How can they report something so groundlessly?”
