Warhol Liz to Star at Phillips

March 24, 2011 by Marion Maneker

Andy Warhol’s Liz #5, a turquoise portrait of the celebrity who died this week, will be auctioned at Phillips de Pury in New York on May 12th. The work was once part of the Ileana Sonnabend collection which was acquired by Gagosian gallery. The current seller presumably bought it from Gagosian two years ago.

The auction house has put the estimate at between $20 and 30 million.
