For the past few years, the US has been a net exporter of art. This is especially true where it comes to Asian art of which the US has substantial stocks that, as Artvest’s Michael Plummer makes clear here, have been vetted and validated over many years.
Plummer will be making a presentation about China at Artelligence on April 13th if you want to learn more about why Chinese buy and what they do with their art:
“There’s a perception among Chinese collectors that America is a treasure trove of fresh property,” said Michael Plummer, a principal of New York-based Artvest Partners LLC. “It’s very prestigious, has good provenance and there’s a better chance that the works are authentic because they have been in the same hands for years.”
