Colin Gleadell gives a lesson in the value of art, no matter when you decide to buy:
Art dealer Jeremy Taylor had a surprise call from a woman who had seen his recent catalogue of paintings by Edward Seago. “She asked about three pictures, and then said she would buy them,” says Taylor. The price was £200,000 all told. “She couldn’t come and see them,” says Taylor. “She’s 90 years old. Had money in the bank, and just wanted to surround herself with beautiful things.”
