Frank Stella Sells in Abu Dhabi

December 6, 2010 by Marion Maneker

ArtInfo.com announces a late purchase from Abu Dhabi Art:

New York dealer Edward Tyler Nahem brought to the fair Abu Dhabi Art a major — and giant — 1970 painting by Frank Stella, “Damascus Gate (Stretch Variation II),” priced at $5 million. Nahem has just received confirmation that the piece has sold to what he will only confirm is a “private entity in Abu Dhabi.” But the dealer adds that “it will likely come to be shared eventually with a greater audience through a local public enterprise,”

Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi . . . (ArtInfo.com)
