- Blum & Poe: Dirk Skreber’s 96-by-86-inch abstraction, “Katee II,” also (from 2010) in acrylic, enamel and polyurethane, to another American collector for $85,000. […] Julian Hoeber, the subject of a current exhibition at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. Titled “Execution Changes #5” and “Execution Changes #6”, the works measured 58-by-40-inches, and were priced at a modest $12,500 apiece. Each work went to an L.A. collector. The gallery also sold “(Fill) (In) (Blank)” (2010), Dave Muller’s […] a four-part acrylic work on paper, for $90,000; […] Henry Taylor’s 95-by-78-inch composition, “Indecision” (2010), for $40,000. Sam Durant’s light box sculpture, “This is Freedom” (2008), […] for $50,000.
- Hauser & Wirth: Louise Bourgeois’s seven figure “Untitled” from 2002, in alabaster and fabric, encased in a stainless steel wood and glass vitrine; […] a new Bharti Kher bindi painting, “Symphony” (2010), for $175,000; a huge Paul McCarthy work on paper, “Michael Jackson” (2009) […] for $450,000. Dieter Roth’s 1980 abstraction in acrylic paint, luminescent paint, spray paint, ball point pen and ink on chipboard, “Moso-Leuchtfarbenmatte,” for $100,000.
- Turin’s Galleria Noero. Noero sold two of Andrew Dadson’s thickly impastoed abstractions that lean at various angles against the wall, for €22,000 piece.
- New York’s Miguel Abreu: Joel Wachs, president of the New York based Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts [bought] R.H. Quaytman’s delicate abstraction “Spine, Chapter 20,” under $20,000.
- Sikkema Jenkins: Mark Bradford’s mixed media-on-canvas “The Throat Would Let Go” (2010) — huge, at 102 by 144 inches — for $375,000; […] a work from the new series by Kara Walker, “Dissertation 2,” featuring cut-out cardboard letters inked on one side, for $100,000. Vik Muniz […] “Nail Fetish” sculpture from 2010, a nail studded Mickey Mouse figure brandishing a dagger, sold for $90,000. […] Muniz’s digital C-print, “The Bearer (Irma),” from his arresting series, “Pictures of Garbage” from 2008 sold for $50,000.
- Belgium’s Xavier Hukkens gallery: a gigantic Sterling Ruby, “Excavated Dig Site,” a bronze cast compilation of detritus from 2010 sold two out of the three in the edition at $375,000 apiece. One sold to a Miami collection and the other went to the UK.
- London’s Lisson Gallery: Allora & Calzadilla‘s “Petrified Petrol Pump” for $180,000.
- London’s Timothy Taylor: a Sean Scully painting, “Cut Ground” (2010) sold to a New York collector for $750,000.
