Cohen Revealed as Buyer of Warhol Coke Bottle

November 15, 2010 by Marion Maneker

The Master, Judd Tully, reveals the buyer of Sotheby’s star lot:

It turns out that the SAC Capital Advisers founder and his wife, Alexandra, were entertaining fellow trustees of the Museum of Modern Art — including supercollectors Eli Broad and Leon Black — and MoMA director Glenn Lowry at the couple’s palatial Greenwich estate on Tuesday evening, the same time as Sotheby’s evening sale, when the renowned collector excused himself from one of the tables and disappeared for almost half an hour. When he returned, he quietly told his table mates, “I got the Coke bottle,” according to an unimpeachable source.
