Christie's London Cont. Highlights, June 2010

June 30, 2010 by Marion Maneker

Sale totals £45.6m

Jan Schoonhoven not having a great week in London. Zero appetite seems to be satisfied. Bigger Boetti goes for twice what Sotheby’s Mappa did. Lichtenstein goes nuts but Liz doesn’t. Flowers right after Liz sells below low estimate. No love for Warhol tonight. Lichtenstein’s Woman Reading is the first pass of the evening, 22 lots in. Calders going for low estimates. Basquiat passes causing auctioneer to comment, “that’s unusual.” Problem with Poliakoff sale has them re-running the bidding to drive it over the estimate range.
