Collectors Patricia and Gustavo Cisneros have donated $1m to Hunter College:
Hunter College is the latest in a series of partnerships the Cisneroses have forged to fuse their art collection with educational programming at American colleges and universities such as Harvard University, the University of Texas at Austin, Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., New York University and Bard Graduate Center in New York.
By working with pieces of the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, the art collection and education arm of the Cisneros’ foundation, students are able to learn about Latin American art, curate exhibits, and create catalogs and publications around the collection. […]
At Hunter, the gift will create a five-year professorship in Latin American art. The professor will teach classes and oversee two exhibitions drawn from the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, which will provide Hunter students with curatorial experiences and develop public programs such as lectures by visiting artists from Latin America.
